the UGA Chattahoochee River Summer Studio Project ReportUsing the ACF Watershed for Tourism Development
October 11th and 12th
George T. Bagby State Park
Become a member of RiverWay South by registering for the RiverWay South Summit 2007 at George T. Bagby State Park, October 11th,12th... and help us connect all Apalachicola, Chattahoochee, and Flint watershed communities through sustainable cultural heritage tourism. Our primary mission is to preserve, protect and promote the ACF watershed and as a representative from your county you can help us unite this magnificent watershed.
Hear some of the most outstanding sustainable tourism and economic development experts in the country during this 2 Day Conference. Also, hear FL, GA, and AL regional experts discuss water levels, water quality and allocations, invasive plants, navigation, and dredging as part of Friday morning's interactive panel discussion entitled: "Can a River Remain Sound if it is used as a Community's Centerpiece?"
Anchoring this year's summit will be updates and a review of RiverWay South's first three years along with strategy sessions fueling next year's attempt to establish the RiverWay South Heritage Trail through RWS's comprehensive interactive website. Wednesday afternoon, October 10th preliminary river excursions kick off the 2007 summit... scheduled to get underway October 11th at 9:00 AM EST.
Mark Lupo will guide the river tour and recommends bringing canoes, kayaks or other forms of river transportation. However, this will require preliminary registration with Mark at mlupo@georgiasbdc.org. Additionally, Wednesday afternoon also offers opportunities for golf with Bob Hendrix, bhendrix@dothanalcvb.com or tennis with Bob Offer, boffer@mindspring.com .
A report from the ACF River System Research Project... A Randall Travel Study which researched the entire ACF watershed including all the counties represented at this RiverWay South summit recommended unifying this vast watershed through public forums and as well as a unification of colleges, universities and interested businesses into an entity called the University Consortium. Sign up to receive a copy of this report and hear an update on recent Public Forums and the 1st formal meeting of the University Consortium.
The University of Georgia will present findings of their recent 2007 ACF River Corridor Study.
Don't miss this opportunity to join over 60 counties and their representatives and explore ways to connect our communities using the Apalachicola, Chattahoochee, Flint River system as a transportation route. You and your colleagues will be included in the RiverWay South Data Base... the beginning of a huge plan to effectively position the ACF River System as a tourism destination becoming the RiverWay South Heritage Trail.
Register here on-line where you'll also see the latest changes and additions in the program's lineup.
